Biography
Alain Giraudo, fifty-two years old, has been director of Le Monde interactif
(interactif@lemonde.fr), owned by Le Monde group (66%) and Grolier interactive - Hachette - (34%), since its creation in 1998. After graduating in law in 1968, he continued his studies at
l'Insitut d'etudes politiques in Paris, obtaining his diploma in 1970.
He joined the French daily Le Monde
in 1973, working in the economics department. Alain Giraudo was responsible for the Sports section from 1978 to 1989. He then worked for two years on the "Societé" section, before being nominated deputy
editor-in-chief.

Nominated editor-in-chief in 1994, he created the "Aujourd'hui" section
(science, sport, communication, life-style) and was in charge of "Le
Mondial", a daily supplement on the football World Cup (June-July 1998). He was president of the
"Societé des redacteurs du Monde" (SRM) in 1994.
Alain Giraudo has written several books of agricultural economy and sport. He is also author of a collection of short stories entitled
Les tournants de la gloire.
