Biography
Born in Bologna in 1936, Guido Rey is professor of political economy in the Economy and
Commerce Faculty of the III Università degli Studi in Rome. President of the National
Institute of Statistics (ISTAT) from 1980 to 1993, at the end of 1993 he was nominated
president of the Information Technology Authority of the Public Administration. |

Author of numerous publications in the field of political economy and econometrics, he
is particularly interested in Italian economic development, the function of statistical
information in the public decision-making process, the economic role of the public
administration, and the financing of productive activity. Rey graduated in economics and
commerce from the University of Genoa. In 1968 he became a lecturer in political economy. |
