Biography

Professor of jurisprudence at the Institute for Information Law at the University of Amsterdam, Hugenholz is also a professional lawyer and partner of Stibbe Simont Monahan Duhot.

He graduated with honours in 1989 from the University of Amsterdam, and has written a series of books and numerous articles on the theme of author's rights and copyright, in particular on the protection of data banks, computer programmes and multimedia products, copyright problems on the Internet, and the publication of contracts. He is also a specialist in the legislation of telecommunications and radio and television broadcasting.

Hugenholz is president of the Intellectual Property Task Force of the Legal Advisory Board of the European Commission, as well as editor-in-chief of the Information Law Series published by Kluwer Law International.
