Biography

Born in Milan in 1944, Granata graduated in Electronic Engineering from the Polytechnic of Milan in 1968 and continued his studies at the Sloan School of Management of MIT in 1973 and at IMEDE in Lausanne in 1983.

After a brief period at the IEI of the CNR (National Research Centre) in Pisa, in 1970 he joined the Research and Development division of Olivetti, where he was responsible, among other areas, for software product development. He was appointed head of the Systems Strategies division and then of the Strategic Alliances direction, where he was responsible for managing the alliance between Olivetti and Digital Equipment Corporation.

From early 1995 until 1996 he was Director General of Italia Online, part of the Olivetti Telemedia group. Italia Online, on the market since 1995, has become a leader in the Italian Internet access and service provider market for the general public. He is currently responsible for the operations of the Olivetti Interactive Telemedia group. Gianni Granata has published articles on software technology in specialist journals and in the last two years has participated in numerous Italian and international conferences on the subject of the Internet. back to the top
