Biography
Giampiero Gramaglia was born in Saluzzo (Cn) in 1950. Central editor-in-chief of the
Italian news agency ANSA in Rome, he has been a qualified journalist since 1973. Gramaglia
began his career on "La Provincia Pavese" in 1972. From 1976 to 1979 he worked
at "Gazzetta del Popolo" of Turin. In 1979 he became Brussels correspondent for
"La Gazzetta".
He joined ANSA in 1980 in the Brussels bureau, which covers both the EEC and NATO,
becoming bureau chief in. In 1989 he transferred to the Rome bureau as international
editor. In 1990 he was appointed central editor-in-chief, with responsibility for
international bureaux. In 1992 he participated in the creation of the "European Press
Club of Rome", of which he is secretary general. In 1995 he was given editorial
responsibility for new ANSA products. He was given editorial responsibility for ANSA's
participation in Bloomberg Television in 1996. |

Gramaglia has worked for many different publications throughout his career, and has
contributed to numerous conferences and radio and television programmes, particularly on
European affairs. Since 1993 he has been in charge of the publication of around twenty
ANSA dossiers on major European political events: G7 summits, European summits, the
fiftieth anniversary of the United Nations, and the conference on the Treaty of
Maastricht. |
