George GILDER

Biography

A senior fellow of the Discovery Institute, George Gilder is the editor of ASAP, the quarterly high technology supplement of Forbes magazine, and a member of the Board of Advisors for the Independent Institute. Born in 1939 he is a graduate of Harvard University, where he studied under Henry Kissenger. He has been a fellow of the Kennedy Institute of Politics. In the 1960s Gilder was a speechwriter for Nelson Rockefeller and Richard Nixon, among others.

In the 1970s he worked as an independent writer and researcher. His studies on the causes of poverty resulted in the publication of "Men and Marriage", "Visible Men" and "Wealth and Poverty". He has been chairman of the Lehrman Institute's Economic Roundtable, and programme director at the Manhattan Institute. Since 1980 he has been a consultent to many large American technolgy companies. He works in Seattle at the Discovery Institute and at home in Tyringham. Massachussets.
