Biography
Gabriella Belotti, architect, is a researcher at the Polytechnic of Milan
where she teaches Instruments and Techniques of Visual Communication and directs the
Visual Communication sector of CEDAR (the documentation centre of the Faculty of
Architecture). For some time she has been researching into language/images and advanced
technologies. Since 1989 she has been co-ordinating research on the use of integrated
multimedia systems and the construction of hypermedia. She has planned and produced many
initiatives for the Polytechnic and other research bodies. In 1992 she held two seminars
on virtual reality. |

The first, on 31 March, entitled "Virtual Labyrinths", and the second, on 19
November entitled "Virtual Technology: interaction, interface, perception"
(Milan, Faculty of Architecture). For the Triennale she produced "The city and tales
of the image" (XVII Esposizione Internazionale, 1988) and "Scenes between nature
and artifice" (XVIII Esposizione Internazionale, 1992). She has participated in many
national and international conferences. In 1985 she was appointed scientific director in
Italy for the study of interactive videodisks applied to architecture by the Council of
Europe. She writes and directs research films and films on architecture and the
environment and contributes to many publications. She edited the book "Del
Virtuale" (Il Rostro 1993)(with the contribution of CNR). She is currently
researching the integration of hypermedia and virtual reality. |
