Biography

Born in Havana, Cuba, Dr. Irving Wladawsky-Berger studied at the University of Chicago, where he obtained a masters and a doctorate in Physics. He has worked for IBM for 27 years and is currently general manager of the company's Internet Division, with responsibility for defining and implementing IBM's software-based Internet and network computing initiatives.

The first 15 years of his IBM career were spent at the Thomas J. Watson Research Center. He later moved to the Large Systems product division, where he was involved in initiating the System/390 microprocessor and parallel technology efforts. He has served on the Computer Sciences and Telecommunications Board of the National Research Council, the Cornell University Engineering College Advisory Council, and the board of CommerceNet, a consortium for promoting commerce on the Internet. back to the top
