Biography

Marco Villamira was born in northern Italy and now lives between Lombardy and Liguria. A graduate in medicine, he later specialised in psychology and anaesthesiology/resuscitation, carrying out studies on the perception of pain. He is Professor of General Psychology at the Faculty of Communication Science at the University IULM of Milan (http://www.iulm.it ).

He has studied for long periods abroad and has carried out research on communication between doctors and patients, between doctors, between patients, between human beings, between non-humans, at the social and cultural levels, through computers, networks and virtual reality. His principal research interests are the transmission of knowledge and culture, the role of new technologies in education and edutainment.

He is also an amateur poet, painter and dog-breeder.
