Biography

Vice-President of Olivetti with responsibility for Olivetti Telemedia, Elserino Piol began his career at Olivetti Bull in 1953. He has held many positions in Olivetti, including head of Product Planning and Marketing and Vice-President of the Olivetti Corporation of America. In 1990 he was nominated Chairman of the Board of Olivetti Systems & Networks. Piol has been a board member of Olivetti since 1987 and Vice-President of the group since 1988. He is responsible for leading the company in the telecommunications market.

Piol has been a director of numerous companies in the computer sector. He is currently President of: Olivetti Telemedia; Infostrada S.p.A.; Acorn Computer Ltd; Olivetti Canon Industrial (a joint venture between Olivetti and Canon); and Italia Online. He is also President of AICA (Associazione Italiana per l'Informatica ed il Calcolo Automatico), the leading Italian cultural association in the field of information technology. back to the top
