Biography
Michel Catinat is adviser to the Director General for Industrial Policy of the European
Commission, where he has worked since 1986.
He was previously head of the Unit responsible for The Information Society and
Information Technologies. He contributed to the definition and development of the action
plan drawn up by the Commission on the emergence of the Information Society in Europe.He
was also responsible for following and maintaining contact with IT industries in Europe.
From 1986 to 1996 he was advisor to the General Directorate for Economic and Financial
Affairs and carried out an economic analysis of the economic policy of the Single European
Market.
Before joining the Commission, Michel Catinat, worked as an economist in the French
public administration, for the Economic Planning Office of the Prime Minister, for the
National Institute for Statistical and Economic Studies of the Ministry of Finance.
He also teaches at the College of Europe in Brugges and during the academic year
1996-97 carried out research on national information infrastructures at the Center for
International Affairs of Harvard University. |
