Biography
Born in Genoa 8 September 1919, Paolo Murialdi graduated in law.
He began working as a journalist in 1939 on Il Secolo XIX, and immediately after
the war worked for various newspapers and magazines in Milan.
From 1950 to 1956 he was a staff writer on Corriere della Sera, and from 1956 to
1973 he held the post of editor-in-chief of Il Giorno.
From 1974 to 1981 he was President of the Federazione Nazionale della Stampa Italiana
(Italian National Press Federation) and from 1986 to 1990 Treasurer of the International
Federation of Journalists.
He was also on the administrative board of the Italian public broadcaster RAI from July
1993 to July 1994.
A lecturer in the history of journalism and mass communications in a number of
universities and professional colleges, he currently teaches Communication Science at the
University of Turin. He was director of the Economic and Financial Communication
Laboratory of the University L.Bocconi from 1989 to 1997. In 1976 he founded the quarterly
review Problemi dellinformazione, which he also edits. He is the author of
the entry Giornali, giornalismo in the last three Appendixes of the Enciclopedia
Italiana, and of the chapter Giornali e giornalismo of the "Storia di
Milano" published by the Enciclopedia Italiana (Vol.XVIII, IL Novecento, Tomo
III). |
