Interview
Biography
Born in Bari in 1957, Giuseppe Laterza became involved with books at a very early age,
following every step of the publishing process, from editing to marketing, in the family
publishing house. Director of the non-fiction section, he has consolidated Laterza's
relationships with foreign authors and editors, while, with his cousin Alessandro (who is
in charge of the educational sector) and the support of Vito and Paolo Laterza, continuing
the reorganisation of the publishing house.
It was his idea to publish Storia delle Donne (A History of Women) and the series Fare
l'Europa (Making Europe), a project which, for the first time, has brought together
prestigious publishers from the main European countries to create a series designed
expressly for a European public.
His interest in 20th century history has led him to promote the project of Stajano, La
cultura italiana continuando (The continuing Italian culture), and with Vito Laterza to
publish books reflecting on recent historic-political events, such as the Autobiography of
Norberto Bobbio edited by Alberto Papuzzi, the interview with De Rita on the Italian
bourgeoisie and that of Eugenio Garin on intellectuals. |
