Biography
After graduating in information science from the University of Alessandria, he obtained
a doctorate in information support systems from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology
(MIT).
El Sherif is one of the founders of the Information and Decision Support Corporation
(IDSC) of the Egyptian Cabinet and has been its director since its foundation in 1985. He
is currently president of the consultancy committee of the Ministry of Administrative
Development. Under his guidance the IDSC (idsc@ix.netcom
com) has grown to an organisation of 500 information systems, operative research,
management science, economics and social sciences professionals.
The organisation is a think tank and encourages technological and IT infrastructure
projects in Egypt. Its principal aim is to provide its clients with software support and
assistance which is both cutting edge and efficient. IDSC software is based on the
ownership of algorithms, methods and technologies and the optimisation of the entire
system of mathematical and artificial intelligence transforms raw data into real
information technology support.
El Sherif, who has taught at the American University of Cairo since 1984, was one of
the founders of the Regional Information and Software Engineering Center (RITSEC). |
