Biography
Maurizio Dècina is Professor of Engineering at the Polytechnic of Milan
where he teaches "Networks for Telecommunications" in the department of
Electronics and information. He is scientific director of CEFRIEL, a research and training
centre for IT graduates supported by the Polytechnic of Milan and the major companies in
the telecommunications and computing sectors. |

Founded in 1988, the centre is regarded as one of the most effective examples of
co-operation between universities and industry in Europe. From 1994 to 1995 he was
President of the "Communications Society" of IEEE (the Institute of Electrical
and Electronic Engineers). The Communications Society, based in New York, is the
international association of telecommunications engineers, with 40.000 members throughout
the world. It publishes specialised technical reviews, organises conferences and carries
out training activities. Prof. Dècina was the first non-American to be elected President. |
