Biography
Ignazio Contu designed, and since 1995 has edited, the journal "Telema, attualitą
e futuro della societą multimediale" (Telema, present and future of the multimedia
society), published by the Ugo Bordoni Foundation, centre of advanced research in the
field of telecommunications and computer sciences. The magazine is concerned with the most
important developments in new communication technologies and promotes debate and
reflection on the consequences of the multimedia revolution. |

Contu was born in Cagliari in 1930. A journalist by profession, he graduated in law
before beginning his career in the 1950s as a journalist with and then editor of
"Scienza e vita" (Science and Life), a scientific review founded by his father
Raffaele Contu early in the century. He then concentrated on news and political
journalism. He has been correspondent for many important Italian dailies and weeklies (Il
Tempo, La Notte, Il Settimanale, Gente, La domenica del Corriere, La Tribuna). As well as
producing numerous radio programmes for RAI, he has been a director of the publishing
house Rusconi Editore, secretary of the Rome journalists' association , and spokesman and
political advisor for two Prime Ministers, from 1983 - 1987 and 1995 - 1996. |
