Biography

Massimo Bergamasco graduated in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Pisa in 1985. In 1986 he worked in research into robotics and applied mechanics at the Scuola Superiore S. Anna of the University of Pisa. Since 1991 he has been in charge of the PERCRO (Perceptual Robotics) robotics research laboratory at the Scuola Superiore S. Anna of the University of Pisa. The laboratory studies the problems of the interaction between robots and the external environment in the manipulation of objects.

Bergamasco has taught many courses at the Scuola Superiore S. Anna and the faculty of engineering at the University of Pisa, as well as holding a series of seminars at several foreign research institutes and universities. He has participated in numerous research projects with MURST, the CNR (National Research Centre), the Superiore di Sanità, ASI (Italian Space Agency)) and the European Commission, in robotics and virtual environments, the development of sensor and actuator systems for robotic applications, etc...

He has contributed to many seminars and conferences on robotics in Italy and abroad. He is also the inventor of two appliances used in robotics, patented by the Scuola Superiore S. Anna.
