Biography
Simon Bazalgette, 34, lives in a Kew, London. He has been Director of Sales &
Marketing for Music Choice Europe, (http://www.musicchoice.co.uk
) since
mid-1996. Prior to his appointment as Director of Sales & Marketing in mid-1996,
Bazalgette was Director of Strategy & Business Affairs for Music Choice Europe since
its formation by Warner Music and Sony in 1993, which responsibilities he has retained.
Bazalgette has developed Music Choice Europe's cable and satellite distribution to
cable operators, and has expanded the distribution of the service via digital satellite,
terrestrial radio (both DAB and FM) and via the World Wide Web, positioning the company as
a programme provider to a wide range of distribution networks and technologies. Before
joining Music Choice Europe, Bazalgette spent nearly 10 years at KPMG, the last five years
specialising in international media and entertainment consulting. |

This work covered cable and satellite, music, TV, radio, advertising and multimedia
sectors. Specific clients included LWT, Classic FM and Teletext UK (winning UK
broadcasting licences); the Hong Kong Government (advising on broadcasting policy and the
licensing of Wharf Cable); the Canadian Government, the Australian Film Commission, and
the European Commission (a wide range of research projects); the National Geographic
Society (advising on worldwide TV distribution strategy); the Mechanical-Copyright
Protection Society (advising on music licensing matters). Bazalgette's personal music
tastes vary from Indie and Jazz to Country and R&B, though his most favourite band is
undoubtedly The Fall. |
