Biography

Born in France in 1955, Barbier studied Telecommunications Engineering at the Politechnique. He then began working in the theatre as set-designer, lighting technician, assistant director, director and dialogue adapter. He worked as general manager and director of lighting for Didier Flamand, the director of Ecce Homo and Prends bien garde aux Zeppelins.

He later worked in the cinema as electrician, gaffer, technician, director's assistant, production assistant, accountant, director of production in numerous short films, (including Chocolat Delice and La Meute by Jean-Paul Dekiss), advertisements and feature films. He founded the production company Mediapolis. From 1986 to 1988 he worked as director of production for Sogitec, a company producing synthetic images, and directed the production of numerous advertisements and company promotions.

Since 1989 he has been with Ex Machina, a European leader in the production of synthetic images. He has produced many films for exhibitions or theme parks, including Paris 1789 (Jerzy Kular and Jose Xavier); Gaia (Pascal Roulin); Dino Island (Jerzy Kular); Ride The Network (Jerzy Kular); Kradden (Jerzy Kular); Mad Racers (Jerzy Kular); Stealth Mission (Vincet Weil); Escape from Dino Island (Jerzy Kular). Since the autumn of 1997 he has been director of the Special Effects Department of Ex Machina. back to the top
