    Biografia

Chih-Yuan Yang ( jerry@yahoo.com ; jerry@akebono.stanford.edu ) was born in Taipei in Taiwan in 1968. When he was ten years old he and his family moved to San Jose in America and he adopted the name Jerry. He graduated in engineering from Stanford University in Palo Alto, California in 1990. In 1994, while writing his doctoral thesis in electrical engineering, he and David Filo began compiling a list classifying their favourite web-sites. What began as a hobby soon became a full-time job and Jerry's Guide to the World Wide Web, soon to become Jerry and David's Guide to the World Wide Web, was carefully prepared.

In the summer of 1994 they came up with the name Yahoo!, an acronym for "Yet Another Hierarchical Officious Oracle!". The original and amusing name attracted the public and it was an almost instant success. Yahoo! soon became big business. 31 years old, married in 1997, and a great fan of sumo wrestling, co-founder and "Chief" Yahoo! Jerry Yang Chih-Yuan is now worth around $800 million.
