I'm curious to look into it, to see if that can be used as a faster catalog.

rclone is a remarkable tool. I've been using it extensively for private webDAV https://rclone.org/commands/rclone_serve/ also the combine storage has been incredibly useful to me https://rclone.org/combine/ I have multiple deposit sources (s3, gdrive, ftp) that I can consolidate into a single place.
